School of Engineering

Scholarships and Prizes

Students studying an engineering program at James Cook University now have access to over $800,000 in scholarships.  Industry has answered the call for securing future engineers by committing to a range of scholarships and bonded cadetships.

BHP Billiton’s Yabulu Refinery and Cannington Mine recently presented six scholarships to School of Engineering students with each scholarship being a total of $10,000 per annum for the duration of the student’s degree.

Due to the relationship with the engineering community and the support they provide, the School of Engineering has a wide range of scholarships and prizes available to students in all year levels. Other industries who have committed to undergraduate student scholarships for JCU engineering students include;  JMS Engineering, GHD, the Australian Defence Force and Townsville, Cairns, Hinchinbrook and Thuringowa City Councils.

There are a number of scholarships being discussed for release in 2008 which will be in addition to the scholarship pool of over $800,000.
