Degree Resources
O-Week presentation
Below is the Powerpoint that was presented at the 2008 O-Week presentation to First Year Engineering students. A good read for any Engineering student.
Pathway to Completion
Students undertaking a Joint degree, who have failed subjects, who have come to us from another institution, must complete a pathway to completion for their particular situation. Only then can the School and Faculty offer sound academic advice.
The pathway spreadsheet below enables students to develop their individualised pathway to completion in a standard format. It contains web links to the current handbook, a semi-automated process for checking prerequisite requirements and other valuable resources that will speed the development of the formulation of their indidual pathway to graduation.
E-mail the Associate Dean (Engineering) or telephone on 4781 4476 for assistance.
Joint Degree Information
The Joint BE/BSc degree is fully described in the Powerpoint presentation below. This gives you an indication of what Engineering subjects you are allowed to remove from your program in order to make room for your chosen Science major.
GPA Calculator
The Grade Point Average (GPA) used by Engineering differs from that used by the institution. It is weighted, placing more emphasis on subjects taken in higher levels. The weighted GPA (wGPA) is determined by the following formula
A spreadsheet has been developed to assist with the calculation of your wGPA and produces the corresponding level of Honours. You can use this spreadsheet to carry out "what-if" scenario testing. The spreadsheet is reasonably selfexplanatory, but feel free to contact the School of Engineering office for advice.
