Getting the topic you want...
It is in your best interest to attend gather as much information as possible about the topics you are interested in before submitting your preferences. This means you should attend any group presentations by supervisors about their projects (refer to the timetable in the left hard margin) as well as conferring directly with the supervisors once you have narrowed down your choice. Supervisors will not be delighted to be allocated students who have not bothered to discuss the project with them first.
